ArcFM
Notes:
- ArcFM Solution 10.2.1b applications are compatible with ArcGIS 10.2.1. Visit the GIS Support place on exchange for updates. Information for maintaining correctly synchronized ArcGIS and ArcSDE versions can be found there.
- Depending on the functionality you use in ArcFM Desktop, there may be one or more Esri patches and hot fixes that should be applied. Further detail about known issues can be found at the GIS Support place on exchange.
- The ArcGIS for Desktop installer splash screen no longer contains the ability to install VBA Compatibility, which ArcFM requires. Locate the ArcGIS VBA Compatibility installer in your ArcGIS 10.2 media or download folder, and install it from there instead.
- The ArcGIS for Desktop installer no longer silently installs the SQL Server Client. If you use a SQL database, visit the Microsoft website to download the client.
- When creating an Oracle database connection in ArcGIS 10.2.1, use ONLY the tns name, e.g., orca.yankees, not sde:oracle11g:orca.yankees. The latter form can lead to inconsistent behavior. If you have any stored displays that were previously saved by someone who had logged in using the longer form of the login string, e.g., sde:oracle11g:orca.yankees, you should resave the stored display after connecting with only the tns name. This way, you will not encounter redundant login screens, such as the login screen reappearing when launching the Attribute Editor.
- If you have a simple-edge network, you should assign the Feeder Cache Maintenance AU to the On Feature Split event for simple edge features. If there are multiple AUs, this should be the last AU assigned. You should also set Split On Edit to yes for all junction features that connect to simple edges.

Designer
Designer is an ArcFM extension that allows utility businesses to integrate ArcFM editing capabilities with their existing Work Management system. A lightweight work management system called Workflow Manager is provided with Designer. Workflow Manager demonstrates Designer's capacity to create Work Requests and associated Designs, create sketches with Compatible Units and Work Locations, and save to the Work Management database. The Workflow Manager Work Management system also contains a Cost Estimate Engine that provides cost summary reports of the Design contents.

Conduit Manager and Underground Facilities Manager
Conduit Manager is an ArcFM extension composed of tools that provide users with the ability to add trenches and conduits, display and update cross-section annotation describing underground conductors within conduits, manage underground facilities (e.g., manholes or vaults), and navigate the underground network.
The Underground Facility Manager (UFM) allows you to create and manage underground structures. Existing Conduit Manager tools allow you to create and configure a network of conduit and ducts within that conduit. UFM provides the ability to create and manage the underground structures that connect the conduit. You may create duct banks and ducts to which the conduit is associated. UFM provides the ability to assign conductors to duct banks and ducts.
Conduit Manager and Underground Facilities Manager 10.2.1b contain the following bug fixes:
- There were no bug fixes for Conduit Manager or UFM in the 10.2.1b release.
Network Adapter Classic
Network Adapter Classic provides an interface to export a selected feeder from the geodatabase and import it into a third-party analysis tool such as CYMDIST, Electric Solver, or a MultiSpeak compliant analysis engine such as Milsoft. The third-party analysis tool must be installed and tested before installing Network Adapter Classic.
Network Adapter Classic 10.2.1b contains the following bug fixes:
- There were no bug fixes for Network Adapter Classic in the 10.2.1b release.
Network Adapter DMS
Network Adapter DMS supports exports of network feeders from an ArcFM geodatabase to MultiSpeak and CIM XMLs, for import to Schneider Electric DMS and other solutions. Network Adapter DMS provides a default export for geodatabases built from the standard ArcGIS Electric Distribution Data Model, and also provides the means for customizing the export to support variations in the source data model.
Network Adapter DMS 10.2.1b contains the following bug fixes:
- There were no bug fixes for Network Adapter DMS in the 10.2.1b release.
ArcFM Solution Mobile
Mobile functionality is installed with ArcFM. To use this functionality, it must be configured. Information about configuring is available in the Mobile section of Configuring the ArcFM Solution.
ArcFM Solution Mobile 10.2.1b contains the following bug fixes:
- There were no bug fixes for ArcFM Solution Mobile in the 10.2.1b release.
Object Reader
The ArcFM Object Reader provides ArcFM custom geo-objects that allow read-only access to ArcFM data in the geodatabase. Object Reader may be used only with an ArcFM geodatabase and when no other ArcFM Solution product is installed.
Object Reader 10.2.1b contains the following bug fixes:
- There were no bug fixes for Object Reader in the 10.2.1b release.

Installation Instructions
The ArcFM Solution 10.2.1b installers are complete installers that also perform as upgrade installers for ArcFM Solution versions 10.2.1 and 10.2.1a. ArcFM Solution 10.2.1b requires a complete upgrade to ArcGIS 10.2.1 or higher before ArcFM installation. You cannot install ArcFM prior to installing ArcGIS.
Note: If you have 10.2.1 or 10.2.1a versions of ArcFM Solution, you do not need to uninstall those versions before you install ArcFM Solution 10.2.1b. You will, however, need to uninstall versions of all products prior to 10.2.1 before installing ArcFM Solution 10.2.1b.
License Manager: ArcFM Solution 10.2.1b requires the 9.2 or later version of License Manager. You must uninstall all previous versions of License Manager if you wish to use License Manager 10.2.1b.
Anti-Spyware: Before installation, disable all anti-spyware applications as they may interfere with installation. They may be restarted after installation is complete.
System Requirements: Ensure that your hardware and software meet the ArcGIS system requirements. Also ensure that your hardware and software meet the ArcFM system requirements defined at the GIS Support place on exchange.
Perform the following steps, in sequence, to install ArcFM Desktop:
- You will receive your ArcFM Desktop installers as a downloaded zip file from the web site. Unzip the file and browse to setup.exe. Double-click setup.exe to begin installation.
- You will be prompted for your license information. Select an option. If you know your license server, type it in the field provided or browse to it using the Browse button. If License Manager is already installed on the same machine, the option to install it is disabled. Click OK.
- At the Welcome screen, read the license agreement. If provided the option, leave the checkbox selected to send application performance data to Schneider Electric, if you want to ensure optimimum performance from your software in the future.
- You can click Quick Install to install the most common ArcFM components in the default location. If you take this route, skip to the final step. Otherwise, click Next.
- You can choose the installation location or leave the default (C:\Program Files (x86)\Miner and Miner\). Click Next.
- Choose the features you want to include. In order to enable any of these products or extensions, you must have a valid license, and it must be selected in the License Manager Desktop Administrator. Each time you uninstall an older version of ArcFM and install a new version, be sure to reselect the appropriate licenses in the Desktop Administrator. Click Install.
- The Completed screen will inform you if you need to reboot your computer. Follow the instructions on this form to conclude the installation.
NOTE: If you experience problems where you are unable to save stored items in a versioned geodatabase, ArcSDE's MAXBLOBSIZE and MAXBUFSIZE settings may be set too low. Schneider Electric recommends setting these values between 10MB and 20MB. Please refer to the ArcFM Solution Online Help for more information on how to change these settings.
