Fiber Manager 10.2.1b Release Contents
Fiber Manager
Fiber Manager is an extension for managing and analyzing fiber optic systems. It is a set of tools and reports that connect, maintain, and manage an organization's fiber infrastructure. Fiber Manager provides robust functionality for managing fiber splices, patch panel port connections, circuits, OTDR outage traces, fiber availability analysis, and numerous reports. Additionally, Fiber Manager includes wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) functionality that allows for better support of complex communication networks.
Notes:
- Fiber Manager will require converting your SDE to use Esri's Global IDs for databases created prior to release 9.3. Fiber Manager is the only ArcFM tool that requires use of Global IDs. Consult the Fiber Manager configuration help for complete upgrade steps.
- When deleting large objects in Fiber Manager, such as large patch locations, we strongly recommend using the Location Editor rather than the Attribute Editor.
Fiber Manager 10.2.1b contains the following bug fixes:
- Spaces in field and table aliases prevent SCHEMATICEXPORTATTRIBUTE model name from working (MM54952).
- Splice Schematic layout is bad as of 10.2.1a (MM54700).
- Changing the header or wavelength in the circuit manager form does not update circuit path (MM54613).
- Cable Report throws an error when inactive for more than 10mins (MM54617).
- ArcMap throwing an error on exit after modifying an attribute of a fiber cable (MM54591).
- Deleting transition points that have been placed will break fiber tracing (MM54035).
- Error generating splice schematic when some splices have duplicate names beginning or ending with parentheses (MM52481)
- Splitting a fiber cable whose length source is set to "Footstamps" no longer gives the user a warning, and does not update the length (MM54140).
- Zoom to extent multiple times with circuit manager is inconsistent (MM53731).
- Fiber Manager fails to work on backdrop database after running the Set ServerOIDs tool (MM55038).
Upgrade Information
All upgrade information is on myArcFM.
The Fiber Manager 10.2.1b installer acts as a full installer. Fiber Manager 10.2.1b requires a complete upgrade to ArcGIS 10.2.1 before Fiber Manager installation.
Installation Instructions
Anti-Spyware: Before installation, disable all anti-spyware applications as they may interfere with installation. They may be restarted after installation is complete.
System Requirements:
- Ensure that your hardware and software meet the ArcGIS system requirements.
- Ensure that your hardware and software meet the ArcFM system requirements defined at the GIS Support place on exchange.
- Microsoft .NET 4.0 or above must be installed prior to installing Fiber Manager.
Known Issues
- When re-parenting objects with Location Editor, related connections are left with original parent, affecting trace results (MM55155).
- Location Editor can't handle favorites that have features with GlobalID values specified, e.g. as seen using SENDTOTARGETS (MM55140).
- Connection Conflict Resolution tool mistakenly reports invalid connection objects as conflicts (MM55083).
- Connection Manager generates an error when attempting to connect object with SUPPORTSALOSS to object without it (MM55022).
- Opening the ‘Trace Selector’ window in Circuit Manager and hitting the ‘Apply’ button after a header has already been selected throws exception (MM54611).
- Fiber Glass Report fails for selection of over 100 cables IF run before starting an edit session (MM54291).
- Splice schematics do not work when MuxDemux is present (MM53701).
- Availability totals on cables can be wrong when working in a multi user/version environment MM53714).
- Receiving warning messages in the event log when upgrading a database (MM53865).
- Minor display issue in location editor for some imported favorites (MM53975).
- Hebrew letters don't display correctly in Patch Panel Connection Report (MM53157).
- Patch Location report results are inconsistent when there are multiple FIBERFACETEDOBJECT features in database (MM52717).
- Ampersand (&) character is not supported in Circuit Name for Trace Report MM52830).
- Connection Manager gives error when editing another workspace that does not include the fiber data (MM52188).
- Connection Manager is inconsistent when handling deleted connections (MM52213).
Documentation
The ArcFM Solution Resource Center offers the latest Using and Configuration Guides for each product. You can view this information before installing the latest release.
SDK Installer: To install the ArcFM Solution SDK Documentation, either the Microsoft Windows SDK or Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 must first be installed. The SDK installer is a large file to download (~600Mb). With 10.1, we had to change the developer help format in order to integrate with Visual Studio 2010. This new format in conjunction with the volume of developer help has led to a very slow installation process. Installing the SDK will take several minutes. The ArcFM Solution Resource Center contains everything available in the SDK installer plus some additional information (e.g., free tools and technical white papers).
